Questions people ask

Do I have to connect my bank?

No. Type your balances in, or download a statement from your bank’s website and import it.

What does “10,000 markets” mean?

The stock market doesn’t go up the same amount every year. Ember plays out your plan 10,000 times with different random years, including crashes, and counts how many times you don’t run out of money.

What’s a bridge account?

You pay a 10% penalty if you take money out of a 401(k) or IRA before 59½. If you retire earlier, you live on your regular savings and brokerage until then. Ember checks whether that money lasts.

Is this financial advice?

No. It’s a calculator for your own numbers. The decisions are yours.
